Review of Elephant bar late happy hour!!!

I have been to the late night happy hour at the Elephant bar (its a restaurant too!) a couple of times now. Where I am the late night happy hour starts at 9pm and goes to whenever they close, varies depending on the day of the week. They also have an earlier happy hour that has the same thing but I'm a night owl and prefer to go out later;) They have an awesome variety of both food and drink for they happy hour, the nice thing is that their grouped by price so you can spend a little or you can spend a lot depending on your tastes. They even have two non-alcoholic drinks that sound delicious for anyone underage or for you lovely DD. I have personally been getting the mai tais or mojitos which are both to die for in my opinion, and the macaroni is super yummy! And on the plus side during happy hour all three of these scrumptious items are only 4$, such a good deal and the drinks are crazy strong so you only need a couple to fill up the ol' tank:) I would absolutely recommend this place for a fun night with friends or a night with that special someone but be warned since it is so great on the weekends its packed and waiting might be necessary for a booth or even for a seat at the bar so get there a little early and drink up!!!!

Missing Dog

We have been feverishly trying to find our little missing chihuahua for some time now with no results :'( His name is Cheech and he was in our back yard like he usually is during the daytime. I went to check on him like I always do and he didn't come to the door, which was strange because any noise from the door and he always comes running, but this time he didn't. So I went out to see what he was doing but the little guy was nowhere to be found. I got my brother and we went looking for him all around the neighborhood but couldn't even find a trace from Cheech. All the gates were locked in our back yard too and there was no blood or hair anywhere from a struggle... it's so strange its as if he vanished out of thin air. We put posters up everywhere and checked the shelters but he's no where to be found. Its been so devastating he was like our little baby and we don't even know if he is alive. We're worried because he is so small that if he got out and no one picked him up the coyotes or bobcats might have gotten him. Or someone picked him up and won't give him up or maybe he's still wandering around scared and hungry. It is agony not knowing where he is and if he is ok... :'(

Awesome pic of the day!!!!!!!

July 1st!!!!

Dang its already July!!! 4th of July weekend :D We have been hearing fireworks almost every night for more then a week where I live. (which is strange because I live in a place where they are illegal to shoot off because of environmental issues) You can hear that they are the illegal ones that must have been smuggled over the boarder (at least state :P) because they are the ones that shoot up in the air and explode. Some are bottle rockets and some are the mortar kind but both are dangerous in this area. Fireworks are so fun though!!!! Who doesn't like setting things on fire? Especially things that explode in different colors and whistles? lol Maybe I'm just a pyromanic but I'm going to shoot fireworks off with some family/friends this weekend down by the beach areas where its kosher to do so... yay fireworks!!!! :D
~~~Feel free to leave any of your firework experiences in the comments~~~
June is already dying
Summer has been going so fast! I can't believe that June is almost gone, quickly dwindling down to its last moments. :( It's funny how long we all wait in anticipation for summer to arrive and alleviate us from the clutches of school and yet when it is finally here its speeds by bringing us closer and closer to another fall semester.
But we must remember to cherish these hot sweaty summer days because once graduation comes around we'll have to get actual jobs and join the 'real world' never to have a free summer break again.... Kinda depressing...kinda REALLY depressing but at least we'll have mula from our jobs so we can plan bad ass vacations during the meager off day breaks... then again you can a crew PAID vacation days and how awesome would it be to be paid to go to the beach and get trashed or something :p
AWESOME PIC OF THE DAY!!!!!!
~~ Hiatus ~~
Hey all I'm sooooo sorry it has been so long since my last post. Unfortunately I have been a bit under the weather lately as I recently had oral surgery and had to have 4 impacted wisdom teeth dug out of my jaw bones. :( It was the first time I went under too... such a strange experience. It's scary because all at once the doctor and a bunch of nurses come into the room and start f*@%ing strapping you down in the chair, they put the IV in your arm, give you oxygen and have all the drills/scalpels ect on this tray in front of you and all of a sudden everything gets blurry and you wake up in some weird closet room laying down with ice packs strapped to your head 4 teeth short. Very weird somehow I had walked to the room and had my jacket put back on with out any memory of it. I now have 4 gaping holes (two on the top and two on the bottom) in my gums where my wisdom teeth used to be. They stitched them up but left holes so they wouldn't develop sepsis, but its really annoying seeing as whenever I try to eat any 'regular food' (anything other then my mush diet; pudding, jello, mashed potatoes ect.) I have to chew with my front teeth and food will get stuck in the holes! So when I gargle bits of food will come out.... uhhh soooo gross! lol I'm sure you all wanted to hear that :P On the plus side they did give my Vicodin... lovely lovely vicodin :D lol So once again I am terribly sorry for the gap in posts!!!
Awsome pic of the day!!!
Heat wave and coyotes!!!!!
I guess June gloom is taking a break in my area today because its friggen hot as hell! Yesterday it was cloudy and seemed like it was going to rain and today its scorching. I had to clean out my little turtle's tank and the water that spilled onto the concrete evaporated almost instantaneously. Crazyness! This wouldn't be so bad if we had a pool but instead we have the side of a small mountain full of wildlife. The coyotes have been getting bolder and bolder lately, I don't know if it is because of the weather fluctuations or what but they have been coming out in broad daylight. They are so cute and beautiful but at the same time they can be deadly. A couple of days ago me and my brother were coming home and a dog was chasing two coyotes down the street. We tried to follow them in the car to make sure the dog wasn't going to be mauled, seeing as our little chihuahua was bitten by a coyote and thank GOD he survived! It was really messy and I had to give in antibiotic shots in his puncture wounds with this plastic tubing. The scary thing is we couldn't find where the dog had gone that was chasing the two coyotes. We say the smaller of the two coyotes go back up our street and heard him calling for the rest of the pack to come down but we never found that dog:( He had a collar and we hope he just went home after the coyotes split up but it really makes you nervous to have pets outside now. :'(
~Thoughts on Phlebotomy~
Drawing people's blood all day can get so repetitive, and yet every person you get its a new scenario. You never know if they're going to be an easy draw or have no usable veins at all. Old people and heavy people are usually the harder draws (except for kids of coarse). In heavier people half the time you cant see or feel any vein. This is never fun because those cases the veins are usually really deep so the whole needle has to go in to catch the vein (straights are more then an inch long too). Some older people you can see all their veins because their skin is paper thin, but that doesn't mean any of them are usable! It's always a little worry some when this happens because when your palpating for the vein it's sometimes hard to tell if its actually a vein or a tendon. The human body seems to soften with age making this a problem and you NEVER want to hit a tendon or bad BAD things will happen. Every time you call a new number for the patient to come in you never know what your going to get, so in this sense the phlebotomy hours are unpredictable and ever changing!
Phleb TUBES!!!!!!!
Summer Time
It's hard to believe that today is already the 7th of June! It seems like I just got out of school, already the summer has begun to waste away. So many things to do in such a small amount of time. I really need to make the most of this summer too seeing as it will be my last... If things go the way they plan I'll be doing my hospital rotations next year leaving less then a month between my last school semester and the year of full time work and full time school at the hospital. My life will basically be owned by the hospital/school needing every waking moment to tend to the last agonizing stretch of my school career. So hence the terrible thought that this will indeed be my last full summer before the hospital and my actual career take the remaining summers away from me.... so I'd LOVE to hear any cheap interesting summer ideas you think I should do with my remaining time in the comments!!! Remember cheap because I'm a broke ass college student lol ;D Thanks for the love people!!!<3
time gap
I am soooo sorry for the time gap between my blog postings.... after finals week was over things got a little crazy. I moved back home for the summer and started my phlebotomy internship at the hospital. For those who don't know what that is, basically I preform venipunctures (drawing people's blood). It doesn't really have a whole lot to do with my profession seeing that once my hours are up I most likely will never do it again once I graduate and start my real job at the hospital. Nevertheless unfortunately they still make us do it. At first it I was really nervous but now it is almost second nature. I have rotated through the four different sections of the hospital we are required to do (general hospital, obstetrics=pregnant people, pediatrics=kids, and oncology=cancer people.) The worst by far was pediatrics... the screaming, dear god the screaming!!!!! lol but seriously that one was the worst so much screaming and crying you couldn't hear yourself think! Nearly everyone I worked with was really nice though and they helped to quell my initial nervousness. It's a real vampire's job, all you do is draw person after person taking their blood :) lol
MONDAYS=DOOM
       Monday again....uhhh and the Monday of finals week too. So much to do so little time, you know its sad when you wish there was just one more day to study. Very sad when you want more time to spend it cramming haha. At the same time finals can be a nice thing seeing as soon as you walk up to turn in the test or when you walk away from giving a presentation that class will be over forever (assuming your passing that is haha). Never again will you have to trudge to that room for that specific class or study or do anything for it. The routine you spent your life in for the past 4 months will be over, all that work you put in will finally been sewn shut as you leave each final. Sad... but not that sad haha.
FRIDAY THE 13th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
                                                                *Stabby Stabby*       :D
TURTLEZ
My little Louie the turtle :D He's been so full on energy lately. Ever since I took him out of the tank to hold em for the picture he's been swimming/waddling all around his tank trying to see out. I think he got a taste of freedom when he got to see the wide outside of his little bowl. Haha now he tries to stand up against the class and strains his little neck too see out at any commotion.  Little Louie is still fascinated with the betas next to his bowl, right now he's up as high as he can with his nose pressed against the glass watching them. lol So cute!! :D I got some requests for a picture of the dinky winky guy so here he is!!
Cute picture of the day!!!!!!
Aww!!!!!!! So adorable! And yet he doesn't look too happy...  haha remember now, this burrito's fer lookin' not eatin' stick with those yummy delicious breakfast burritos!!!!!!!!!!  : D
Wonders of a Breakfast Burrito
Ahh the joys of a Breakfast Burrito!!! My school is getto but the coffee shop in the student union makes a MEAN Breakfast Burrito :D It's HUGE and stuffed with bacon, ham, eggs, cheese and thick crunchy hash browns. Plus they give you chips and salsa with it, what could be better????  Sooooo yummy it makes finals seem almost tolerable with one in hand....almost haha. But make sure your there well before 10:30 they're crazy about shutting down breakfast at that coffee place (Tulleys I'm fairly certain it is a chain so look for em and hopfully they will make those tortilla wrapped happpiness!). Last week I went there at 10:26 and they already stopped selling breakfast!!!! I still had 4 whole minutes... doesn't take that long to make a friggen burrito but still they refused. So I had to study in a 'lack of breakfast burrito rage.' Very sad, so if you want that glorious Breakfast Burrito goodness get there super early! And be happy with a tummy full of bacon :D
Awesome pic of the day!!!!!!!
Early Thanksgiving... See now we all can get along!!!!  :D
~~~~~~~~~~Turtles~~~~~~~~~~

I bought a little baby turtle like a week ago at this getto dollar zone by by my school. His name is Louie and he's sooooo tiny!!! His shell is just a bit bigger then a quarter. Louie is smaller then the car alarm key chain I have so you can imagine how dinky he is :D I'm really happy because he has finally learned that I'm not going to eat him and when I go by his little bowl it means food time! He is finally starting to get comfortable now and he spends lots of time burrowing in the rocks and watching my two beta fish swim around in their tanks :)

Strange thoughts of the day................

The semester if finally coming to a end thank god!!!! uhh and then the phlebotomy drollness starts. Got to practice drawing people's blood today pretty cool, pretty morbid haha. The human body is such a beautiful thing and yet it can be so disgusting! It's such a complex, intricate piece of machinery. So many complicated things go on in our bodies that we aren't even conscious of until we begin to study them (for professional or person reasons). Just the conversion of glucose and other sugars into ATP (cell energy) through glycolysis and other pathways is incredibly complicated! So glad the biochemistry semester is over haha Who knew digesting a piece of bread was such a wonderment?

AWESOME PICS OF THE DAY!!!!
